Alesandro is a 400 year old vampire that saved analisa, a poor village girl from an epidemic. He is hunted by his once friend turned enemy Rodrigo because of Alesandro' s sister committing suicide after going mad when she found out her brother was a vampire. Analisa is a poor young girl saved by alesandro then moving into his home as per his request when the village people burned her home to contain the epidemic occurring. Together they must find solutions to love each other while fighting a mad vampire trying to kill them out of vengeance for his lost love.As in my title I don't know what to make of this story. First and foremost I did not know what era the story line was on. After making some math from the minimal info given it was around 1800's I guess. Then there was the inconsistency of that era. First with the dress code then with the attending of parties.
I gave it a 2 star because it is a complete story with highs and lows. Drama between the main characters and outside forces. The book was detailed and descriptive except in the intimate parts. In fact does scenes were briefed and far between, with the first scene not occurring until halfway into the book. Analisa had a very low self esteem and image that required alesandro to keep stroking. Alesandro on the other hand had martyr syndrome going on that at first was sweet and endearing but eventually became nauseating. The ending was weak and ended with alesandro returning to analisa after 6 months buried underground to forget her. I also, had a hard time immersing myself into the story. However, I have read several books from this author and know she is a good writer and so I would continue to read her books. Although, I would say to me this story fell flat.

Midnight Embrace Amanda Ashley Books Reviews
This was my first book by Ms. Ashley. She writes with a great
Deal of passion and drive. Her characters are truly alive in her writing. A truly wonderful book.
I must admit, first, that I haven't finished the book (not sure I ever will). The main character's, Analisa's, personality is so immature that I find myself feeling disturbed by their sexual attraction. At the beginning, I thought that the girl was only 10 or 12 years old because that was about the level of maturity of her thoughts and speech. The narrator finally says that she's seventeen, but it's very hard to believe and, at least where I stopped reading, she doesn't seem to ever gain any maturity even when she's faced with situations where other people would learn and grown. Added to that, the story just drags along, making me actually dread another boring day with Analisa. I almost wish the evil vampire would kill her. At least that would be somewhat exciting. I am not at all opposed to reading "fluff" novels (mostly prefer them for an escape to everyday life) but I want to like the characters and feel some connection to them (not this faint feeling of pedophilia cuz she seems like a baby). It may be possible that the book will get better later, in what I haven't read, but I doubt it, so I do not recommend it.
I did enjoy the book but I must say Analisa was not one of my favorite heroines. I expected her to be turned in the end but I really didn't like the way the book ended. We worked up to this outcome for some time, she's turned, end of story.
I love to read Amanda Ashley's books this was no exception. The 4 main characters were very well written. You hated one and loved the other 3. Read Midnight Embrace if you have never been one to embarrass the darkness this will give you the satisfaction you need to read more of Amanda Ashley.
This is definitely a "can't put it down" book. Even to the point of losing sleep in order to read it. The love scenes not so vivid that even the shy could enjoy it. The love, the hate, the parties, the battles... So well written that you love it all. As well or better written as her other books I've read.
The same thing was said over and over. I wanted to like it...but struggled to get through it.
It read, for me, like a story written by someone new to writing. Not even close to Kenyon or Feehan. This author seems to play tee ball next to those major leaguers.
Alexandros battles the urges of a vampire all for the Love of a mortal girl. He puts her needs before his own. He has a ferocious enemy he must defeat in order to assure Lisa is safe. His existence is filled with anguish before he learns love can give him peace.
